The FTCE Visually Impaired K-12 Exam encompasses ten core competencies, or content knowledge areas. Each competency has between three and 15 skill areas. These skills are defined as behaviors that demonstrate the competencies. Content specialists have determined that these content knowledge areas and skills are representative and important for beginning teachers working with visually-impaired students.

The FTCE Visually Impaired K-12 Exam has about 120 multiple-choice questions. Question formats include direct questions, commands, sentence completion, data analysis, and scenarios. Each question has four answer options (A, B, C, or D). When you arrive at the test, you will receive a test booklet and a separate bubble answer sheet.
