The FTCE Technology Education 6-12 Exam encompasses 14 core competencies, or content knowledge areas. Each competency has between two and nine skill areas, which are behaviors that demonstrate the content knowledge expected. Content specialists have determined that beginning technology education teachers must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills in these competencies.

When you arrive at the exam, you will be provided with a test booklet and a bubble answer sheet. The FTCE Technology Education 6-12 Exam has approximately 120 multiple-choice questions. Question formats include the following: direct questions, sentence completion, graphics, commands, and scenarios. Each question has four answer options (A, B, C, or D.)
