The FTCE School Psychologist PK-12 Exam encompasses ten core competencies. Each competency includes between three and seven skill areas. Competencies are defined as content knowledge areas while skills are the behaviors that demonstrate those competencies. Content specialists have determined that these competencies and skills represent the knowledge important for beginning school psychologists.
Each competency is also assigned a percentage representing the approximate proportion of test items in that content area compared to the total number of items on the exam. The exam comprises approximately 120 multiple-choice questions, and has the following question formats: direct questions, sentence completion, commands, and scenarios. Each question has four answer options (A, B, C, or D). When you arrive at the exam, you will receive a test booklet with a separate answer sheet for bubbling in your answers.
