The FTCE Physics 6-12 Exam tests your knowledge and skill in eight core competencies, each with between five and 20 skill areas. Core competencies are defined as content knowledge areas, and skills are the behaviors that demonstrate the content knowledge.

These competencies and skills have been determined by content specialists to be important for beginning teachers of physics. Each of these competencies is also assigned a percentage, which represents the number of items in that competency compared to the overall number of items on the examination.
You will receive a test booklet with a separate answer sheet, as well as a scientific calculator and a sheet of constants.
The FTCE Physics 6-12 Exam has about 80 multiple-choice questions. Question formats will include direct questions, commands, sentence completion, graphics, and scenarios. Each question has four possible answer options, which you will respond to by bubbling in choice A, B, C, or D on the answer sheet.
