The FTCE Humanities K-12 Exam is for beginning teachers of the humanities. You will answer approximately 120 multiple-choice questions across six core competencies, or areas of knowledge and skill. These core competencies have been determined by content specialists as important for beginning teachers of the humanities.
Your responses will demonstrate your knowledge of (1) the vocabulary and concepts basic to the humanities; (2) historical periods, styles, and movements; (3) interrelatedness of arts and ideas; (4) the relationship between a culture's beliefs and values and their expression in the humanities; (5) prominent aesthetic principles used by major cultures in evaluating the arts; and (6) instructional techniques, assessment, and resources appropriate to the humanities.
The FTCE Humanities K-12 Exam has several question formats, including direct questions, sentence completion, commands, and scenarios. Each question has four answer options (A, B, C, or D). You will receive a test booklet and separate bubble answer sheet for recording your responses.
