The FTCE General Knowledge Test comprises four sections: English Language Skills, Mathematics, Reading, and Essay. Each of these four sections is comprised of various core competencies to test your knowledge and skills. Each core competency is assigned a percent, which reflects the number of test items in that section compared to the total number of items on the exam. Content specialists have determined that these sections and core competencies represent the overall knowledge that beginning teachers need in order to be successful.
Question formats for the exam include direct questions, sentence completion, graphics, commands, scenarios, word problems, passages, and essays. Each multiple-choice question has four response options (A, B, C, or D).
You will receive a test booklet that contains the multiple-choice questions and essay topics. You will also receive an answer booklet that has an answer sheet for bubbling in your response to the multiple-choice questions. The answer booklet also includes lined paper for the essay.
