The FTCE Drama 6-12 Exam tests knowledge and skill in eight core competencies, with each containing several skill areas. Content specialists have determined that these knowledge areas and skills are required of beginning drama teachers. Each core competency area is assigned a percentage for scoring purposes. This percentage represents the approximate proportion of test items in that content area compared to the overall total number of items on the test
The following core competencies are included on the exam: (1) acting, (2) creative dramatics, (3) theater production and design, (4) dramatic literature and criticism, (5) theater history, (6) directing, (7) playwriting, and (8) career opportunities.
The FTCE Drama 6-12 Exam comprises approximately 120 multiple-choice questions. The format of this subject examination includes the following question types: direct questions, commands, sentence completion, graphics, sequences, and scenarios. Each question will have four possible response options. You will receive a test booklet and separate answer sheet, on which to bubble in the correct multiple-choice response (A, B, C, or D).
