Aspiring teachers who want to teach business classes in grades 6-12 will need to pass the FTCE Business 6-12 Exam. This test assesses knowledge across ten core competencies, each of which has between two and 11 skill areas. Content specialists have determined that these competencies, or areas of content knowledge and skill, are representative of what you need to know to teach introductory business classes. Each core competency is assigned a percentage for scoring purposes. This percentage represents the approximate proportion of test items in that core competency compared to the overall total number of items on the test.
To pass the FTCE Business 6-12 Exam, you need to demonstrate knowledge of (1) information and technological systems; (2) business communications; (3) administrative office systems; (4) accounting; (5) business management; (6) financial management; (7) business law; (8) foundations, teaching methods, and professional development; (9) international business; and (10) career development.
The FTCE Business 6-12 Exam comprises approximately 120 multiple-choice questions. The format of questions includes the following: direct questions, commands, sentence completion, and scenarios. Each question will have four possible response options. Test-takers will receive a test booklet with a separate answer sheet, on which the test-taker will bubble in the correct multiple-choice response (A, B, C, or D).
