Teachers who plan to teach beginning art classes in Florida schools are required to take the FTCE Art K-12 Exam and demonstrate core competency knowledge and skills in various content areas. These core competencies were developed by content specialists to ensure that they are representative of the knowledge and skills that art teachers need.
You will need to demonstrate knowledge and skills in each competency area. The competency areas are, divided into three to five skill areas. Each core competency is assigned a percentage for scoring purposes, and this percentage reflects the approximate proportion of test items within that competency compared to the total number of items on the test.
The FTCE Art K-12 Exam comprises approximately 120 multiple-choice questions. The format of this examination includes the following question types: direct questions, commands, sentence completion, and scenarios. Each question will have four possible response options. You will receive a test booklet with a separate answer sheet, on which to bubble in the correct multiple-choice response (A, B, C, or D).
